Indonesian Helpers

Since the 1990s, Indonesian helpers have grown rapidly in response to Hong Kong household needs. Their clearest strength is Cantonese — they communicate with elderly family members without barriers, building trust quickly.

Indonesian government training requirements are strict: helpers complete over 600 hours of structured courses before departure, covering infant care, elderly care, basic medical knowledge and practical Cantonese. They are especially strong in Cantonese and Southeast Asian cooking, detailed housekeeping and garment care.
